It is with great sadness that Canongate Youth has taken the decision to close the Old School Café.

This has not been an easy decision to make and has only been after much thought and consultation.

The Old School Café has been in operation for 5 years within our space at South Bridge Resource Centre during which time we have built up a regular client base particularly from those attending classes within the centre. The café team have supported over 150 young people to gain work experience, develop skills, build confidence, make new friends and this experience has been a valuable part of our service to young people.

However, as a result of a lack of funds, capacity to grow and the impacts of COVID -19 we are no longer able to financially sustain this social enterprise and therefore the Old School Café will not reopen when CY returns to South Bridge Resource Centre. Our Café Manager Dan and Café Assistant Lewis sadly had to leave us in August. We are extremely grateful to Dan and Lewis for their hard work, commitment, enthusiasm and support to young people over the last 4 years.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us over the years through their regular custom, positive feedback, and support to the amazing young people who volunteered and gained so much from their experience.

We will be reviewing how we use the café space moving forward and will keep you informed of any new developments.
