A Summer at CY

By 16th August 2019 No Comments

For the last 6 weeks we’ve been hosting an intern from America in partnership with Academic Programmes International (API). Kathrin was heavily involved in the delivery of our 2019 Summer Programme and here’s what she had to say about her time at CY –

“Hello, my name is Kathrin Woodall, and I just completed an internship at Canongate Youth. I am from Washington State in the United States of America, and the internship was a requirement to graduate from Central Washington University with a degree in Public Health. I came to Scotland because I wanted to be able to experience a new culture as well as get a different perspective in the childcare field.

Canongate was a perfect fit for me because I enjoy working with kids. I am hoping to become a Pediatric Nurse after I finish graduate work. Working at Canongate allowed me to work with different children and get experience with all the different age groups. I have learned so much while being here. I got to know the excellent staff who are so passionate about helping children and young people. They want to make a difference in the lives of children. We have nothing really like Canongate in the States, so it was amazing to see something so new to me but also how well the company makes it work. The programmes at Canongate are just amazing. I had a fantastic time working with Canongate Youth and will cherish my time there forever. I hope to return one day, even just for a visit.”

A huge big thanks to Kathrin for all her hard work and choosing to spend her internship with us. We wish you all the very best for the future.
